lovingkindness--which is love
bs"d
from rebbe nachman's likutey moharan 33:4 and 33:5
this is known! inherent in the torah--the attributes/days--is G-d's love, as is written in the holy zohar(III 191b) "daily G-d commands His lovingkindess" (psalms 42:9). for the lovingkindness--which is love, as is written (jeremiah 31:2) "I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I extend lovingkindness to you"--
n.58 love...lovingkindness. this verse from jeremiah connects love (ahavah) to lovingkindness (chesed).
(33:4) and because of the love with which He loved israel and He wanted them to attach themselves to Him and to love Him from this corporeal world. He clothed G-dliness in the attributes of the torah.
n.61 as rebbe nachman goes on to say, inherent in each attribute is G-d's love/chesed.
(33:4) we see, therefore, that by virtue of His love with which he loved israel, He clothed Himself in the attributes of the torah. thus it is that in each and every attribute there is love; the love which the Holy One has for israel.
n.62 ...in its deeper meaning, the mitzvah of tefillin applies to each and every person at any given moment--for at any given moment a person can subdue his [negative] inclination and find the torah letters at his level, and so come to realize G-d's love for him.
n.65 the more a person subdues his bad days, the greater the revelation of G-dliness from the hitherto concealed torah. and the greater this revelation, the more that person gains recognition of G-d's love, which was previously in a contracted state. this recognition is closeness to G-d, an awareness of His unity, peace.
(33:4) now, the torah has two aspects: the revealed aspect and the hidden aspect. the hidden aspect is the torah of the Hidden Ancient One, which is destined to be revealed in the future. and, when this torah of the Hidden Ancient One will be revealed, then the peace in the world will be wondrous. as is written (isaiah 11:6,9) "the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard with the kid....they will do nothing evil or vile in all of My sacred mountain, for the land will be filled with the knowledge of G-d". for then the love in His daat (knowledge) will be revealed.
(33:5) for there are two types of love. one, is the love in the days. as mentioned above, "daily G-d commands His lovingkindness"--the day that goes with all the days. every day, i.e., each and every attribute, has in it G-d's love for israel . this [love] is actual.
but, there is also a love in potential. this is the love that existed between israel and their Father in heaven prior to creation, when israel was still in His Daat and Mind.
n.72 is actual. that is, G-d's love inherent in the torah of measure/days/attributes is an actual love, a love which one can grasp even at present.
(33:5) and, when the inner essence/His G-dliness is revealed, then peace increases. as is written, "they will do nothing [negative] or vile in all of My sacred mountain, for the land will be filled with the knowledge"--the love that is in Daat will be revealed.
and this is the meaning of "there will be one day, known to G-d" (zechariah 14:7). there will be a revelation of the love, which is called "day", as in, "daily G-d commands His lovingkindness". this refers to the inner torah...
and the torah is called good (proverbs 4:2) "for I have given you good instruction, [do not forsake My torah". it is also called light (proverbs 6:23) "and the torah is a light".
thus when the hidden tzadikim and the hidden torah are revealed, then great peace will be revealed in the world. all opposites will unite as one, as in "the wolf will dwell with the lamb..." for then, the love that is in daat--which is caled 'one day, known to G-d'--will be revealed. in other words, the love that is in daat, which is neither day nor night--this love is above time and above the attributes.
n. 84 all the attributes contain G-d's love.... the psalmist says "darkness is not dark for You"(139.12)...when by performing mitzvot and subduing the [negative] inclination we gather together and reveal the torah letters that were concealed in the bad days, and remove them from there, then the torah letters receive abundant light from Above. we are able to receive a spark of the love that is in daat...
n.85 wisdom made a crown...humility made a heel. our sages teach that humility is the greatest of all levels (avodah zarah 20b). the lowest level of humility is greater than even the apex of wisdom.
